Undergraduate Online Admission Application

Application Priority Dates
Empire State College has moved to a 3-term academic calendar. Please keep in mind that all application materials including all official transcripts must be received by the application review date to guarantee a timely review of your application. We strongly recommend that you apply as soon as possible. The more lead time you provide, the more likely you are to be enrolled at the time you specify on the application.

The RN to BSN in Nursing degree program accepts applications for the Fall and Spring terms only. All application materials must be received by June 1st for Fall and October 1st for Spring. Please visit Nursing Admissions Requirements for more information.


Application Checklist

1. Pay your nonrefundable $50 orientation fee. If you are participating in one of our special programs your application screens will not reflect a payment requirement.

Pay online (secure environment) by MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express. Please include type of card, credit card number and expiration date.


2. Proof of High School Completion is required for admission into the college; this may be in the form of ONE of the following:
    1. Official high school transcript from a state approved high school;
    2. Copy of a United States High School Diploma from a state approved high school;
    3. High School Equivalency Transcript (GED/TASC Test Scores);
    4. Official transcript from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university showing conferral of an associate degree.
*If you are applying for financial aid the 24 college credit option will not be sufficient. Please visit www.esc.edu/financial-aid for information.

If your high school or college education is from a country other than the United States, the credential must be evaluated by one of these approved evaluation services:


3. Essay

A complete and thoughtful typed essay of no fewer than 300 words is required as part of the application. Instructions are provided on the application. Please read and follow the instructions carefully. The writing you submit here will determine whether you are admitted into the college. Many of our applicants are successful in being admitted; however, some are referred for further reading and writing development during their first enrollment at the college. A few applicants may be referred elsewhere, if they need more skill development assistance than we can provide.

4. Official transcripts

An official transcript will be needed for each institution attended, even if transfer credit from a previous institution is listed on another college transcript.

Empire State College partners with several electronic transcript providers to receive electronic academic transcripts. If your institution provides electronic transcripts, you may request to have your official transcripts sent electronically from your institution directly to Empire State College.

Note:
You may want to first contact your previous college/university to find out if a fee is required and/or if the request is to be in writing. Please do not send copies of transcripts, certificates, licenses or other documentation of non-college learning at this time.

Nonmatriculated Study
Students who are not interested in pursuing a degree (nonmatriculated status) and only interested in taking courses should complete the Application for Nondegree Study.
